hospital

Here we are in the recovery room after J's surgery. We have had an eventful few days. I will start with today. Jonas has been a champ all day. He is out of surgery, and we are in recovery, waiting to be transfered to the peds unit. The surgery went well, according to the Drs. He is having a little bit of a hard time keeping his breathing even, and his pulse ox is up and down. In true Jonas style, he has refused every drink and popsicil offered to him so far. He is mr pitiful as he drifts in and out of a semi conscious state. He is pretty heavily sedated. When he does wake up briefly he crys for me, as soon as he sees me, he he gooes back out. We will be here for teh night atleast.

Yesterday we had an evaulation at the Kennedy Krieger feeding disorders clinic. It was very interesting to say the least. To say more, it was utterly heart-breaking. The only thing worse than know knowing what is wrong with your kid... is knowing what it is going to take to make them better... No formal disgnosis, but the entire evaulation team at the clinic described his case as "severe". They want a few more tests run, but are reccommened he be placed in their inpatiet program. They also thing that placing the feeding tube may be in our very near future. We are waiting until J recovers from this surgery, then they want an upper GI and a swallow study, to make sure he is functioning medically ok in the digestive problem. They alos feel that he still has some mazzive oral motor problems. These affect his speech and his ability to eat.

I will try to ocme back after we are settled in a room.
